In simple terms, Geofencing allows your thermostat to switch your heating off while you are away from home and switch it back on when you are returning. Geofencing technology uses GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular data, or RFID to monitor devices.
Your thermostat will use your home WiFi to determine how far away your mobile phone is from home. When you arrive at a pre-programmed distance, your thermostat will switch your heating to AWAY mode. The target temperature for AWAY mode can be defined by the end user.
Similarly, when you are returning home, your thermostat will recognise your mobile phone is within the pre-programmed distance and will switch to AUTO mode.
For Geofencing to work, the Centro account holder must create a location on their Centro app, e.g. Home, Office, 41 Station Road etc. Also, the Centro account holder’s mobile phone must have their Centro app setting to Always On.
Geofencing can be used with all ESi WiFi Room Thermostats except ESRTP5WF, ESRTP6WHW models and thermostats attached to the ES3PRFK RF Kit.
Geofencing will not work with cylinder thermostats.
